Nvidia once again revived the old name in the graphics chip lineup, but this time for truly modern modern technology. As an anandtech report, the company has introduced the GeForce RTX 2050 GPU laptop that might sound like a lower-class hardware recycling, but is based on the same ampere design found in the RTX 3050 series. The naming scheme is confusing, to make it light, but it does gave you The latest tracing rays in potentially more affordable packages.
You have to settle for a 64-bit memory bus, not a 128-bit 3050s pipe, and boost hours stop at 1.477MHz versus 1.740MHz. However, you will still get the same 2,048 CUDA CORE and 4GB GDDR6 memory, while peak power consumption falls to 45W which is far more reasonable compared to 80W of the upper class chip. This is partly intended for laptops ‘in between’ which has no chassis or battery space for RTX 30 GPU.
The company has also revealed two entry-level chips, MX550 and MX570, although shy in detail outside the promises more Cora Core, faster memory and greater power efficiency than the MX450 they replace. The MX550 is based on older touring architecture, while the MX570 uses ampere. As with the previous MX chip, this is intended for a thin and light portable where integrated graphics may not be good enough.
There are other problems outside the branding: Release window. Nvidia did not expect the new RTX 2050 or MX section to reach the delivery laptop until spring 2022. It is usually a long time, and suggests Nvidia announces the GPU now to clean slate for CES in January. Whatever the reason, you have to be patient if you want a laptop with modern Nvidia graphics but find the RTX 3050 system that is equipped with your reach.
