As is the case, Apple faces delays on production schedules during its Asian assembly units for various reasons, including flea shortages. And now, its well-known Foxconnian assembler operations, which have been affected earlier this year because of the second wave of COVID-19, have had problems again due to workers’ issues.
Hundreds of women working at Foxconn’s SriRumbudur plant near Chennai, which brings together iPhones for Apple struck the protest road against the management of society on Saturday.
The workers were agitated on the state of more than 250 of their colleagues, who had been sick after consuming food at the company provided the hostel.
Of these, 159 had been hospitalized, while the others were treated as ambulatory in different hospitals.
The police also owned closed to 100 people since Saturday for blocked the Chennai-Bengaluru highway. The demonstrations started from December 15, but expanded after the state of health of the persons concerned remained a mystery.
The snow problem has upset in a great protest after the local social media handles have begun to amplify the issue. A rumor that eight of the indisposed workers died triggered a massive thrust in agitation. The local police also arrested two activists to broadcast the rumor of death.
Foxconn has not officially responded to events so far.
Foxconn employs anywhere from 5,000 to 7,000 workers from the unit. The numbers are fluid because many are used as temporary hands according to the work program.
It is not yet clear that the production schedules of the Foxconn unit have been affected.
Unparalleled recording of Apple assemblers in the well-being of workers
Complaints from pressure workers on the Foxconn Center have been continued for a year or two. Apple assemblers, in general, do not have a great reputation for the well-being of workers in these parts. Last year, another Apple contract company in India Wistron attended violent workers protesting wage problems and the unit has been closed for several months. He reopened only recently.
In Foxconn itself, almost all workers are not directly employed by the company, they are in the company’s throws or subcontractors.
Most workers are unleashed in hostels managed by the company. These hostels are mainly dormitories with less than sufficient facilities. The food is outsourced to local caterers known to cut corners to make a quick dollar or two.
Workers allege that society was insufficient in its approach after some of them have fallen sick. The company was forced to act only after workers organized in events.
The famous Apple supply chain, at the heart of its success as an electronic major, is still under a cloud for poor health and safety, pollution and work schedules. While Apple has code for contract enterprises, but the company based in Cupertino pushes the ball at the contractor court whenever there was a problem.
